just to go errand running, we did laundry and bought some groceries. they've fixed up the old laundromat we go to rather nicely, i think new owners got ahold of it? they painted the outside blue, too, which is cool haha. we ran up to the post office for a little while and there was the worlds littlest boy carrying around the biggest box for whatever reason, and he looked absolutely ecstatic.

saw a guy who i believe was transgender, kind of made my day. he was really nice, too. put in more effort when it was made apparent my mama is partially deaf, people don't do that very often.

reunited with an old pal i had complications with, too, lately. we've been playing atlyss (the furry game) and watching twin peaks. i'm super happy about it.
also, i've been reading harassment architecture by mike ma and the virtual community by howard rheingold. HA is insane, but the writing is pretty fun to read. TVC is really interesting but it's been a little bit of a drag for me, takes more effort to read, i guess?

it comes off poorly no matter how i word it but i really don't like when people look at stuff and reduce it to only being scary/unsettling (specifically about horror etc media) as 95% of it is telling a story & that seems to get thrown to the side for people's flismy first reactions. Hold on. This is such a Uh duh example because letterboxd is kind of a torture field anyway but i get this spurred on alot by looking at reviews on there. earlier i watched the grandmother by david lynch & it like genuinely gutted me i don't think i've ever been so pulled into a film before. so many of the reviews were just talking about how weird/unsettling/scary it is and it really doesn't come off that way to me at all. obviously it's stressful and grim to watch because The child abuse but it's so whimsically intriguing even so..

kind of jumping topics but watching or playing or reading anything and then looking at discussion about it online and seeing people completely neglect to mention very potent themes of csa/incest(ual abuse) in any way always makes me feel suuuper crazy. let's play question mark because on-screen abuse is never allowed to be shown on-screen because it's exploitative && evil but also if there's a metaphor or at least an allusion to it 1 it doesn't exist 2 you're making things weird by bringing it up also this gets notched up to twelve if it's csa and you get called a pedophile for noticing it

anyway back to letterboxd reviews in specific i don't think leaving a review with only your unthinking first reaction is anything to anyone. it feels so disrespectful. and the cringefail quirky one-liner attempts are on thin ice.some of you are very genuinely funny though so i'll let it slide

been rolling around the board game isolation in my head lately, been thinking about a piece of zndk & ajax inspired by it.. dunno if i'll ever have the ability to do it, but hey! still fun to think about. isolation's super interesting to me artistically, it's not the first time i've been so enraptured by it, and probably won't be the last. maybe one day i'll be in a position to commission someone to draw it for me. otp aside, i think i wanna learn about board games one day. super cool

i used to hang around some nerd shop my sister hangs (or used to?) out at. i think i stopped by likeeee maybe four or five days. they do game-days every other week or so. didn't badger her to keep going because i just live soo far out it's difficult for me to make it to things like that .. it was fun, though! i don't get to hang out with people in-person often at all. apparently one of her friends was studying to be a pilot or something and surrounded himself with the color orange. was very fond of this. We played werewolf, which i actually wasn't aware people played in real life, i've only played it online before. brought back pleasant memories! i used to host them when i was tween-ish.
